How to fill your Insulated mini keg

You can fill your insulated mini keg from bottles or cans or even from your own 19l refrigerated corny keg.

Chill your cans or bottles of beer to drinking temp. If you’re decanting from your corny keg, make sure it’s cold.

Ensure your mini keg has been sanitized by using something like StellarSan which you can get from your local home brew store.

Remove the lid or ball lock from your mini keg and place the keg in the fridge for at least 15 to 20 minutes or in the freezer if you have room for at least 10 minutes. This will cool down the inside of the keg ready for you to add your favourite beer.

FYI. if you forget to remove the lid or ball lock from the keg it will be impossible for it to cool down on the inside due to the kegs insulating properties.

Once your Mini Keg is cold and your beer is cold, pour your beer of choice in just as you would into a glass to your desired volume, some head space is required so don’t fill it to the top, about 2 centimetres from the top is about right so you can pressurize correctly if you are going to use a tap and regulator.

Screw the lid or ball lock back on the Keg and if you want to keep the contents fresh for 36 to 48 hours you will need to pressurize with Co2 gas to around 8 – 10 psi.
